Designed for interaction, inspired by our relationship with nature in the urban environment.

The idea for Seedboms came from Kabloom founder and director Darren Wilson. During his studies in 3D Design and Craft at university he decided to focus his attention on eco-friendly design. Finding that this specific area of design had precious few good products on the market at the time he took it upon himself to design something new. Not only did these products have to be designed with the environment in mind they also had to be innovative, fun and desirable. It was Darren’s belief (and still is) that:

“Good design, good ideas and narratives should come first, the eco-friendly part should exist anyway”

And so from that standpoint the concept of the Guerrilla Gardening Seedbom began.

Darren decided to look into the root of this apparent modern problem, the problem modern (urban) cultures apparent disassociation with nature. The mission? To design a product that got people outside and create nature in their cities. It was also very important to design products that weren’t going to end up in landfill someday. How do you achieve this? Either design something so desirable it would be passed on through generations (very difficult to do and impossible to predict) or design something that would destroy itself and have a second life to be reborn through plant life.

And so the Seedbom was Product Description
£3.95
Maximum quantity available reached.

START A FEEDING FRENZY!

Featherbom contains a wildflower mix to attract butterflies and bees during the summer and produce grains and seeds for birds during the cold winter months.

In collaboration with Callie Preston, winner of the Designbom competition.

Seed mix – Phacelia, Wild Carrot, Teasel, Millet, Common Knapweed, Cornflower and Birdsfoot Trefoil.

Pull the pin and throw or drop Seedboms into areas that are in need of brightening up. Seedboms like bare soil, natural light and to be kept damp whilst growing.

Seedboms will biodegrade into the environment, leaving only plants behind.

WHY I LOVE THESE:
 • They help provide much needed flowers for bees & butterflies
 • Produces food for wild birds in the winter
 • Encourages children to have a relationship with nature
 • Plastic free
 • Biodegradable packaging
 • Pet friendly
 • Made in the UK

1. First shake the seedbom a few times to distribute seeds inside.

2. Trigger by pulling the pin to remove the seal and submerge in water until fully soaked inside and out.

3. Throw or drop onto bare open ground that’s in need of beautification.

4. IMPORTANT: Make sure it's split open to allow seedlings to sprout out!

GROWING TIPS:

When watering ensure the Seedbom is gently soaked all the way through, you can tell it’s really soaked when the biobased shell starts to really soften (think of cooked pasta). If your Seedbom is not soaked through there is a good chance it won’t break open effectively.

Seedboms like to be kept damp, try not to let them dry out and don’t over-water and drown the seedlings. A good rule of thumb is damp to the touch but not soaking wet.

Seedboms like to be warm, not too hot, the warmth from the sun is ideal. Too hot and the Seedbom will dry out and there is a danger of the seedlings dying. Too cold and the seeds may not germinate at all.

When choosing the perfect growing site, look for bare open ground with little or no weeds, weeds will compete with the seedlings and stop them from establishing into strong and healthy plants.

Seedboms can also be grown in planters, pots or window boxes. Simply soak as normal and place on top of well drained soil, then split open by hand to allow seedlings to grow out.

Full instructions are included on inside of each Seedbom sleeve.

For best results use within 1 year of purchase.

Kabloom we make fun and innovative products that also happen to be eco-friendly.

And so the Seedbom was born!
