South Essex Wildlife Hospital, Orsett

Founded by Sue Schwar in 1995, SEWH are a rescue, rehabilitation and public advice charity in Orsett, Essex.  They have the only hospital facilities of its kind within the area, covering most of  Essex, East London and North Kent.

No sick, injured or orphaned animal is ever turned away, requiring that the hospital operates 7 days a week. Staffed by paid veterinary staff, a handful of dedicated volunteers and Sue herself, who often have to work in hazardous conditions, late at night and in adverse weather.

They rely solely on public donations to cover the cost of food, equipment, fuel and vets bills.

Hillside Animal Sanctuary Logo

Hillside Animal Sanctuary, Norfolk

Hillside was formed in 1995 by Wendy Valentine (also the founder of Redwings Horse Sanctuary in 1984) and it has since helped and campaigned for animals in need, particularly those who are so routinely abused in the intensive factory farming industry.

Hillside is now home to over 3,000 animals and is one of the UK's most successful campaigning organisations for the animals' cause.

Although most of their rescued animals have been saved from the farming industry, Hillside is home to nearly 2,000 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.

If you would like to know more about how you can support them or make a donation then you can do this on their website.

Please take a look at their 20th birthday video from 2015, showing the amazing work they do:
